The town of Terezin was founded at the end of the 18th century by Emperor Joseph II., originally as an ingenious system of the military fortresses for the protection of the Bohemian Kingdom. During the World War II, in 1940, the Gestapo took control of Terezín and the town was turned into a Jewish ghetto. To the outside it was presented by the Nazis as a model Jewish settlement, but in reality it was a concentration camp. Guide service and entrance fees included.

Plzeň (Pilsen) is a town of beer where the best known Czech Pilsner Urquell beer has been produced. In Koněprusy village is the longest karst cave system in Czech Republic. Kutna Hora, lying about 65 km east of Prague, owes its origin to the silver mines, the existence of which can be traced back to the first part of the 13 th century. It was next to Prague the most important town in Bohemia, having become favourite temporal residence of several of the Czech kings and also a mint for the "Prague Penny" ("Groš"). Kutná Hora was declared a world heritage and since 1995 has been protected by UNESCO.

First we will visit the Konopiště Castle, situated some 45 km out of Prague. Konopiště is a lovely hunting château located about 45 km southeast of Prague. It was founded in the 13th century and it has become famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand Ferdinand d'Este, the successor of the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 triggered World War I. Visitors can observe the residential rooms of Franz Ferdinand, a large collection of antlers or an armoury with medieval weapons.
