Konopiště is a lovely hunting château located about 45 km southeast of Prague. It was founded in the 13th century and it has become famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand Ferdinand d'Este, the successor of the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 triggered World War I. Visitors can observe the residential rooms of Franz Ferdinand, a large collection of antlers or an armoury with medieval weapons. Guided, admission included.
