Event though Gregorian chanting has existed for more than 1500 years, it is today more popular than ever before. Proof of this is the current international chart success of the Cistercian Monks of the Heiligenkreuz monastery in Austria. But responsible for the enduring presence onstage and in the charts is Gregorian. Thanks to the choir this special musical style sparked public interest and became commercially successful. Since 1999 hit-producer Frank Peterson (amongst other projects responsible for productions of Enigma, Andrea Bocelli, Ofra Haza, Nevio and all productions of Sarah Brightman) has pursued his vision of a harmonious blend of pop music and choral. With Gregorian he has realised a long-time dream. The multiple international chart-entries, as well as gold and platinum awards are a credit to his concept. A total of almost five million records have made their way to fans in Germany and all of Europe, but also in Singapore, Japan, South Africa, and, since this year, to the United States.
Experiencing Gregorian in concert is the highlight of the whole year for the loyal followers of the currently best Gregorian choir. The many fans will be all the more delighted to hear that there will be another Christmas Tour in 2008. Already in 2006 and 2007 the concerts at Christmas time in around 30 German cities were completely sold out! Due to the successful tours of the past years the Christmas Tour 2008 will take place in larger churches and concert halls. 17 concerts are planned for the ensemble, which consists of eight artists who are known for their unique performance and remarkable repertoire. They will be accompanied by Sarah Brightman and three extraordinary musicians. Well-know songs such as Ave Maria, Silent Night, Imagine, Fields Of Gold, Angels, Mad World, Miracle of Love, and When A Child Is Born will be presented in the traditional Gregorian choral style. Gregorian live in concert is always an unforgettable experience.
Apart from their concerts the magical choir, whose singers have contributed to the film music of such classics as “Harry Potter”, Lord of the Rings”, and “Star Wars”, is extremely productive. After the exclusive earBOOK “Chants & Mysteries” in 2007, the fifth Gregorian DVD “Live at Kreuzenstein Castle” and the 6th CD in the “Masters of Chants” series, more releases are planned for 2008. Among them are the recording of the concert at the Berlin Passionskirche during the Christmas Tour 2007 and a reissued edition of the Christmas Album.
